Hey Y'all, I’m Haley! I’m an artist collecting pennies to see the world — currently in Wilmington, Vermont. As a child, my time was divided between Connecticut with Mom, and Vermont with Dad, or running around on the beaches on Cape Cod and South Carolina with my awesome family. When it came time for college, I packed my bags and headed down south to my Father's Alma Mater, The University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. After graduation I spent an amazing 3 years living in Charleston working as the Assistant Coordinator + Graphic Designer at The City Gallery at Waterfront Park, owned and operated by the City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs. Charleston changed my life. I met the most influential people who opened my eyes to the behind-the-scenes world of working artists. I cannot believe I was able to experience and live in such a beautiful world, surrounded by such genuine creators. But in 2012, when a huge opportunity to dive into the web design world came across my desk, I packed up my beach bag and headed back to Columbia. Finally, in 2016, after working for someone else for a decade, I decided it was time to pack my bags one last time, drive north without stopping until I crossed over into Vermont. I collected every penny I had and started studio lane. Join me as I figure it out and continuously remind myself “It’s worth it!”. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

WHAT DOES STUDIO LANE MEAN?

Deciding on a business name is a difficult process, so “why not just use your name?”. Simply put — it felt too casual and I want to be taken seriously as a small business owner rather than a hobbyist. I dream to build this business into something much larger than myself and I realized from the start that I needed to reflect my vision to grow in order to make it happen.

So, “what does studio lane mean?”. My grandparents had the most beautiful home at the end of studio lane. Many of my earliest memories begin here, where my “Dutchie” taught me creativity wasn’t just a hobby, unconsciously shaping my artistic foundation. From baking to calligraphy to decoupage, we were always ‘making’; teaching me to transform the ordinary into magical, colorful, imaginative spaces using art.

In addition, my time in Vermont with my Dad consisted of days at “the shop”. He’s a second generation custom stair builder that moved his father’s business from Greenwich, CT up to the Green Mountain state into an amazing old dairy barn overlooking the Deerfield river, where my sister and I spent all of our days playing hide and seek while picking up our dad’s knack for entrepreneurship.

I decided to bring both things that sparked the most joy in my life together to create a space that is uniquely my own. If you find yourself in Vermont, I welcome you to come for a visit!
